Scott Gillis was born in Kenmore, NY and grew up in North Tonawanda; near Buffalo and Niagara Falls, and Baldwinsville; near Syracuce, NY. He went to a community college and then two years at Syracuse University, graduating with a BA degree in art. In the late 70’s he moved to New York.
  He worked early on as an illustrator for Esquire, The NY Times, Rolling Stone, New York Magazine, Raw Magazine, The Village Voice, The New Yorker, and many more publications and worked for a few years for illustrators Julian Allen and Robert Grossman. He did some comics for Dark Horse Comics with writer Jeff Demos and did a graphic novel for Neon Lit called Perdita Durango, by Barry Gifford. His last project was a book called In The Dust Zone teaming up with author  Maggie Dubris. Scott also art directed a rap video staring Miss Melody, directed by Darnell Martin. He is also working on his own illustrated books.
  In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, living downtown in Manhattan; music, the clubs, and making music became important to him and played guitar in a few bands; ‘Broadway’ and ‘Konk’ being two of them.
Konk’s music has been put on a CD  anthology on London’s SoulJazz Records, and has been included in
New York, New Music 1980  1984, an exhibition at the Museum for New York City. In 2019, a definitive three vinyl disc album set named The Magic Force Of Konk  1981 - 1988, was released by London label Futurismo
  Scott was also part owner in a bar in the East Village and a restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
   He has traveled in Europe, Japan, Columbia, S.A. and China
  Now, he keeps studying art and this web site has some of the last few year’s work on it. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited in The United States, Japan, Amsterdam, Australia, France and Belgium.
